REUSS

continued from page 2 maintain contact with social services available for offenders.

WSW: How can citizens combat irresponsibility of some judges?

Reuss: First, they should nd out about the candidates check on their records. I believe records of judges' decisions should be published. A concerned community organization should be formed to inform citizens of judges' actions. And then, people should vote for judges. Only one-third of all voters vote for judges.

WSW: What problems have you encountered in your campaign?

Reuss: Basically, the campaign is going well. Woman are being very supportive. Of course, we don't have the money that the men have. It is hard for a woman to run for office, because they're not known and don't have the connections to get the endorsements. The main problem is getting the name known. Of those who do vote for judge, many play the "name game", thus, the contest becomes nothing more than a popularity contest.

WHAT'S

In their recent efforts to establish a Women's Center for Cleveland, Cleveland Women's Counseling has twice met with the staffs of the Cleveland Foundation and the Gund Foundation. "We are now in the process of rewriting part of our Women's Center proposal to comply with certain specifications of these funding groups as to length of time of funding," said Judy Bigelow of CWC in a telephone interview with WSW. The Women's Center must also have a board of trustees, and the nature of such a board is being considered by CWC.

"We are gathering endorsements from traditional social agencies such as the Jewish Vocational Service and Community Information Service. We hope to meet with the funding groups again in December," commented Ms. Bigelow.

CWC has now obtained a tax exempt status and any gift to CWC is deductable from the donor's income tax.
